Binnu Primary School is a community school established in 1958 catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school is set on approximately five acres of land and students enjoy a quiet and tranquil outside environment. Located in the town of Binnu, 85km north of Geraldton, our school is relatively remote from a major regional centre and therefore encompasses a strong school community. Binnu Primary School is a Level 3 school and in 2019 we began the school year as an Independent Public School. Binnu Primary School is part of the Geraldton Network of schools.
Our school is committed to providing an innovative learning environment. We focus on individualised learning by setting high expectations for students to succeed. As a small school, we are committed to providing each child with an opportunity to achieve their full potential through quality education and a safe and supportive learning environment.
Our team of experienced staff provide a nurturing environment for all students. Through our Positive Behaviour in Schools initiative, we encourage students to be friendly, respectful, responsible and try their personal best. Our multi-age classroom settings provide students with an opportunity to develop friendships with students of all ages.
We place a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. Small class sizes enable us to provide individualised programs to meet students' learning needs. Classrooms are well equipped with interactive panels and wireless internet connection. Laptops and iPads are available at a ratio of 1:1. Digital technologies are used in the classroom to enhance students' learning experiences. In addition, we offer a varied curriculum of Wajarri, Music, Health, Art and Physical Education. Students also have many opportunities for excursions, camps and sporting competitions throughout the school year. Our school library is well resourced and utilised by students daily.
Our values (Respect, Unity, Responsibility, Creativity and Personal Best) build the foundation for our approaches to teaching and learning and form the basis of how we interact with each other. Parents and families are supportive and engaged in their child's learning. The school's decision making processes are carried out in a consultative process incorporating the Principal, School Board, staff and the P&C Association.
